2008-2009 NBA Awards Predictions

I wish I made a set of predictions before the season began so I can compare... But I didn't so obviously I can't compare. duh.

Alright

Most Valuable Player - LeBron James
Best record in East, possibly the league, best PER in the league. He's locked it up.

Rookie of the Year - Derrick Rose
He has the stats... currently at 16/17 PPG and 6 APG, leading the Bulls to the playoffs... Pretty strong case for ROY.

Defensive Player of the Year - Dwight Howard
Close to 14 rebounds and 3 blocks a game and he anchors one of the best defensive teams in the league. I'd like to see LeBron win it though, but this has always been more of a statistical award.

Sixth Man of the Year - J.R. Smith
He's been a beast for me on my fantasy team. I think Jason Terry is getting far too many minutes to be considered a 6th man.

Most Improved Player - Devin Harris
I'd like to say Jameer Nelson but like half the season doesn't help his cause. Devin Harris has been in consideration since the beginning of the season.

Coach Of The Year - Mike Brown
Best record in the East. Cavs record improved a considerable amount this season.

Executive Of The Year - Daryl Morey
Landed Artest, big balls trading Rafer for Lowry, signing Von Wafer. Good stuff.

All-NBA First Team

G - Dwyane Wade
G - Kobe Bryant
F - LeBron James
F - Tim Duncan
C - Dwight Howard

Wade gets the nod over Paul because of his amazing season. Duncan makes it next to LeBron cause KG missed a bit of the season and doesn't have the most spectacular statline.

All-NBA Second Team

G - Chris Paul
G - Chauncey Billups
F - Carmelo Anthony
F - Kevin Garnett
C - Yao Ming

Chauncey and Melo make it for helping the Nuggets nab the 2nd seed in the West.

All-NBA Third Team

G - Deron Williams
G - Brandon Roy
F - Dirk Nowitzki
F - Pau Gasol
C - Shaquille O'Neal

And what's left. Sucks Joe Johnson couldn't make a team.

All-Defensive First Team

G - Dwyane Wade
G - Kobe Bryant
F - LeBron James
F - Tim Duncan
C - Dwight Howard

Same as the All-NBA 1st team. Wade gets the nod for his 2 steal/2 block thing.

All-Defensive Second Team

G - Chris Paul
G - Chauncey Billups
F - Ron Artest
F - Kevin Garnett
C - Yao Ming

Replaced Melo with Artest. Paul's there for steals, Garnett is a by default thing.

All-Rookie First Team

G - Derrick Rose
G - OJ Mayo
F - Michael Beasley
F - Kevin Love
C - Brook Lopez

All-Rookie Second Team

G - Rudy Fernandez

I really wanted to put Anthony Morrow in there somewhere but this year has some pretty good rookies.
